MARK TWAIN - QUESTIONS OF THE BOOK

''The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn''


CHAPTER ONE

1. Who is telling the story?
Huckleberry Finn is telling the story.

2. Who is Tom Sawyer? What is the name of his story?
He is a friend of Huckleberry Finn, and the name of his story is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

3. Why does Huck live with the Widow Douglas?
Because his father is alcholic and his mother died.

4. Who is Jim?
Jim is Miss Watson’s slave.


CHAPTER TWO


1. Why is Huck’s father angry?
Because he heard that Huck was going to school and was rich.

2. Why does Huck’s father want his son’s Money?
To g to town and get drunk.

3. Why does Huck escape from his father?
Because he beat him when he gets drunk.

4. Why does Huck put the pig’s blood on the floor?
To make his father think that he was dead.


CHAPTER THREE

1. Why is Jim scared when he sees Huck on the island?
Because he thinks that he’s dead.

2. Why is Jim on Jackson’s island?
Because he ran away from Miss Watson’s house because she wanted to sell him.

3. What does Jim find in the floating house that he doesn’t want Huck to look at? What else do they find?
He finds a dead man, and doesn’t want Jim to look at it because it’s horrible, and they also find a new knife, some dresses, a lamp and lots of candles.

4. Why does Jim hide when they sail back to the island?
Because they don’t want anybody to see a runaway slave.


CHAPTER FOUR

1. Why does Huck get dressed as a girl?
To go to town and hear what they say about them

2. What news does Huck hear in town?
That they think Jim murder him.

3. How much is the reward offered for capturing Jim?
$300

4. What makes Huck frightened?
He’s frightened because people think that Jim murdered him.

5. What are Huck and Jim’s plans when they Stara their trip on the river?
Their plans were to reach Cairo, (Illinois)



CHAPTER FIVE

1. What happens to Huck and Jim when they try to attract the steamboat’s attention?
That the steamboat made the raft pieces.

2. How does Huck end up in Colonel Grangerford’s house?
Because when he hide Colonel Grangerford found him.

3. How does Huck and Jim find each other again?
A Colonel’s slave told Huck that he had something, and it was Jim asleep.

4. How are they able to continue their trip down the river?
Because Jim found most of the pieces and could made it again


CHAPTER SIX

1. Wich two unexpected passengers do Huck and Jim have on their raft?
Two men that said they were a duke and the king of france.

2. What kind of people are the duke and the king?
they were con men


CHAPTER SEVEN

1. What does the king do in the ''performance''? How long does it last?
he ran to the stage nacked, it lasted 5 min.

2. How do the king and the duke make $465 in the town?
making a fake ''performance''

3. Do you think Huck and Jim approve of their companions?
they think that's not the right behaviour, but they approve it because all the kings behave like that.


CHAPTER EIGHT

1. Why doesn't Huck leave when the king and the duke get drunk?
because Jim wasn't in the raft.

2. Why does Huck go to Silas Phelp's house?
to find Jim

3. What is the relationship between Aunt Sally and Tom Sawyer? Why does she think that Huck is Tom?
Sally is Tom's aunt.

4. Who does Tom say he is when he sees his aunt?
Tom's brother.

5. What is Tom's plan to free Jim?
dig a hole and make notes to Silas.


CHAPTER NINE

1. Why does Tom's plan fail?
because they shoot Tom and they couldn't escape.

2. What does Tom tell his Aunt Sally about Jim?
that they escape with him, and his aunt said that he is in the hut again. So he tells her that Jim is a free man now, because Miss Watson was dead now and she free him.

3. Why did Tom help Jim escape instead of telling his Aunt the truth from the start?
because he likes mystery and adventures.

4. Who was the dead man in the house on the river?
Huck's father.

5. Do you think Huck would be happy living with Tom's relatives?
No, because they would ''civilised'' him, and he can't. So he's running away.
